About the Artist

 

Beverly Brookshire, a native of N.C. and TN and a graduate of V.C.U. in Richmond has lived in many areas of the US and traveled throughout the world. 

After years of working as a space planner, Beverly began painting again in DC (1995), she moved to NYC (1999) and joined the Don Stacy Studio of artists and the Art Students League.

 

In NYC, Beverly had three one-woman shows and in September 2002 she produced a show “Artists Support Downtown” on Wall Street. 

A painting of Ms Brookshire’s was featured in the November edition of Irish Connections, an international magazine; an etching of Ms. Brookshire’s is in the permanent collection of the VCU Art Library; her painting, "Carnaval on 1st Ave" a commission by a Brazilian company appeared in the NY Official City Guide.  

A Trip to Temple Theater was selected as the logo and playbill of the historic Temple Theater in Sanford, NC.  Beverly’s paintings have appeared in galleries in several states, and a museum in Tenn.  Brookshire relocated to Sanford, NC in 2004 and joined the ArtStudio with a group of other innovative artists.  She owns a gallery (BrookshireArtist Gallery) located in the Shops of Steele Street.  Beverly is a member of the Sanford Brush & Palette Club and an avid participant in downtown Sanford projects.

Brookshire uses many media including ink, acrylic, pastels, watercolor, objects, collage, etc. on canvas, board, and paper.  As an avid hiker she often paints from her travels to Europe, Asia, and many local areas of US states.
